The formula used to propel “One Direction” to international scene is nothing new. The boys were lifted from a talent search where they were not even named champions. Then, they get to sign a contract for Simon Cowell. From there, they fueled the flame through social media networking. It is also important to note that “One Direction” is an English boy band, composed of five cute guys who have those boyish charms and irresistibly good looks. You see? Everything seems to be ordinary about One Direction entry to the music scene and yet they are enjoying an extraordinary fame.
Blame it to their legion of fans. That’s what makes them different. “One Direction| fans are give-it-all fans. Add to that is their advantage of having Internet technology on their side, which the fans of The Beatles do not have access to previously. Sure, there was Westlife and A1, which introduced how English guys can be downright adorable once they pick up the microphone. But, they only laid down the carpet for something like this band of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson to come forth.
It is not surprising how One Direction managed to topple music charts after music charts when they released their two records “Up All Night” and “Take Me Home”. After all, they were tagged as the light behind the spark that is taking the British boy band invasion back to the spotlight.
Since the boys left the X Factor, they made tongues wagging, which prompted the development of a record deal and everyone knows what happened next. Today, girls of all ages cannot seem to get enough of the boy band. They are all crazy about the former hits “What Makes you Beautiful” and Live While We’re Young” and all those danceable tunes that can make every girl’s eyes twinkling.
When will this craze end? The future holds that secret. For now, the fans of music and of One Direction in particular could only hope that the magic will not be extinguished anytime soon. Hopefully, the handlers and record producers of the band will never stop cooking gimmicks that will be most suitable as the band ages and as its legion of fans grow along with them. One Direction has proven that theirs is no “one hit wonder”. All that is left is for them to continue what they do and be as adorable as they are now when they do it.
